Almond Valley

Enjoy a Wonderful Day of Adventure and Play

On a wooded riverside site that extends for nearly a mile, there's so much to explore and enjoy at Almond Valley. The old stone buildings of the watermill and byres are home to friendly farm animals and a host of pets and poultry who are introduced in regular handling sessions. Across the river, among woods and gardens, there are trampolines, pedal carts and other imaginative outdoor play. Enjoy a seasonal trailer ride or a trip on the narrow gauge railway. Indoors there’s soft play and playgrounds, interactive displays and activities in the museum, and a tempting range of fresh healthy snacks in the comfort of Morag’s milk bar. Rain or shine, throughout the year, there’s always so much to interest and enjoy.

Countdown to Spooky Happenings

The Halloween executive planning committee enjoy a well earned tea-break during preparations for this year’s Spooky Happenings at Almond Valley. This year’s theme is skeletons (with the random polar bear). Our bony friends will be lurking in hidden corners around the site, sharing clues on the secret trail. They’re just one part of the spooky silliness that takes over between 7th October and the night of Halloween.

This year’s All-day Halloween party will take place on Saturday 28th October when Almond Valley remains open into the depths of the night (or at least, until 8pm). It’s a gently scary occasion ideally suited for the under 10’s, with strange things happening throughout the day, and a programme of games, activities, and monster dancing starting from 5pm. Standard admission applies and there’s no need to book in advance. Come dressed to kill.

Scream Teas for Halloween

Scream Teas are a wholesome three-course after-school meal of blood, eyeballs, and other oddities, served at your table by zombies and night-cats. It’s the sort of occasion when all the family can huddle around a cauldron and share its grizzly delights.

There will also be apple dooking, glow-in-the-dark soft play, goody bags, and other gently scary fun. Scream Teas only take place on the 30th and 31st of October, starting at 5 o’clock and carrying on until 7.

Places are very limited and prior booking is essential. The cost is £12 per person, with both adults and children sharing and enjoying the strange nutrition.
